Lancaster Canal and the Water Witch Pub The beautiful Lancaster Canal passes through the east of Lancaster to the aqueduct in the north of Lancaster, where it passes over the River Lune. It then continues northward to Carnforth and soon prematurely ends, before reaching the Lake District. South of the city, the canal travels through flat, pretty countryside to Galgate. From here, you may wish to take the Glasson Arm, out to Glasson Dock on the coast (beware: there are 6 locks), or continue to travel south to the City of Preston.

The canal passes some pleasant pubs and restaurants on its way, such as the Water Witch in Lancaster. This is very popular spot on a warm, sunny day and is handily situated right on the edge of the city, close to all the shops and attractions.
