 Maritime Museum
Lancaster's award-winning Maritime Museum is found on the banks of the River Lune, on St George's Quay and used to be an old Custom House. A visit here tells the story of how Lancaster grew through its humble beginnings to the historic city it is today, largely due to its association with the Slave Trade.
Small children love this Museum with its easily accessible artefacts and use of sounds, smells and audiovisual displays to bring the past to life. I can remember bringing my little ones here to sit in old fishing boats listen to professional story tellers.
There is a great little café and gift shop too.
