Lancaster Town Hall Lancaster Town Hall was built in 1909, funded by local businessman and multi millionaire, Lord Ashton. It is a grand, imposing building, comprising the Council Chamber, the Mayor's Parlour, Reception Room and Banqueting Hall, Magistrate's Court and Police Cells (no longer in use) and the Ashton Hall. The latter is most often visited by the people of Lancaster, as it is used for many different city events, such as the annual Beer Festival, Schools' Music Festival, concerts and weddings, etc.
